My story
I come from Belgium, and in 2010 finished my studies as a kindergarten teacher. After that, I had a specialisation year for children with specific and/or special needs. From then until about four years ago, I have worked in a school as a kindergarten teacher. I asked for a change, and ended up in classes with older children from 2021 to 2023. I also taught foreign children the Dutch language…
Since my time of studying, I have often wondered about, and sometimes questioned, the goals and curriculum. Was this what God had for us? Was this God’s heart, was this the knowledge He wanted us to teach, etc.? I often thought about the system, while being in it... I observed while being involved. I do not want to say it is all bad for every child, but sometimes a more specific, gentle way, and allowing for each child’s personal development time would and could be appropriate.
I recently joined the Harvest Life School pioneers, and I am looking forward to seeing how God is going to guide us through the whole process, and to see how a school that beats according to His heart, may look. So, I immediately felt this meant putting down old thinking patterns and ideas of how I might know and see “school”, in anticipation of seeing the shifting that will take place.
